Website Migration
-
Q: What precisely does website migration imply and what does it involve?
A: When your present hosting provider can no longer answer the needs of your site, or when you experience frequent downtime, or if you are made to wait for hours for the client service team to respond back to you, it might be smart to change your web hosting provider, i.e. to migrate all the files for your web sites along with your databases from your present provider to your future provider. At Dedicated Servers, we realize that this can be hard & time–consuming. That’s why we will do all that for you at no cost! Our professional technical team will migrate your web site content from your present web hosting provider to us. Our technicians have got broad experience migrating web sites and are able to handle anything – from a common WordPress–based blog or Joomla™ CMS–driven web site, to an extremely complex, custom–built application.
-
Q: How long will it take for my website to be transferred to your platform?
A: While we can’t give you a precise time window, because there are lots of variables, among them the size of the files and databases, the location of the present host’s server, the complexity of your web site and the present workload of our Website Migration Department, etc., we’ll do our very best to migrate your website within 48 hours, and in some cases – within 24 hours (in case the content is not very large).
-
Q: What details will I need to give to your Website Migration Department?
A: Yeah. We’ll need to have the name of the web site that you want us to move. We’ll also require a way to log into your current hosting account so that we can get the files pertaining to your website.
-
Q: You will access sensitive data. How can I be sure that you won’t misuse it?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the contract that we will have with you as a client. We’re dedicated to safeguarding the safety of the personal data obtained from the customers. To achieve this, we employ technical safety measures to avoid the loss, the misapplication, the alteration or the illegal leak of the private data under our control. The safety measures include, but are not limited to: physical, electronic and administrative operations to protect and secure the info that we receive on the Internet. When we request users to submit financial information (such as a credit card number), this info is shielded using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology.
-
Q: Will there be any outage for my site?
A: Nah. Your web site will continue to be completely operational during the migration. Once everything is done on our end, we’ll tell you so that you can preview it and check for any problems. If everything’s fine, all you will need to do is change your domain name’s DNS settings.
-
Q: Will my present web hosting provider need to do anything?
A: Nah. We will never get in touch with your hosting provider about anything. They won’t be aware of the website migration either.
-
Q: Does it make a difference what platform my current provider is using?
A: Yup. We support all standard Linux–powered hosting platforms. We don’t support Windows–powered hosting platforms, as we do not provide Windows web hosting services ourselves. We also do not support proprietary website building and management interfaces such as Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square, Mr Site, etc.
