Data corruption is the unintentional transformation of a file or the losing of information that often occurs during reading or writing. The reason could be hardware or software failure, and for that reason, a file can become partially or fully corrupted, so it'll no longer function as it should since its bits will be scrambled or lacking. An image file, for example, will no longer present a true image, but a random combination of colors, an archive will be impossible to unpack since its content will be unreadable, etcetera. In the event that this kind of a problem appears and it's not recognized by the system or by an administrator, the data will become corrupted silently and in case this happens on a drive which is a part of a RAID array where the data is synced between various different drives, the corrupted file will be reproduced on all other drives and the harm will be long term. A large number of frequently used file systems either don't offer real-time checks or do not have good ones which can detect an issue before the damage is done, so silent data corruption is a very common matter on web hosting servers where large amounts of information are stored.
No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Web Hosting
We warrant the integrity of the information uploaded in each web hosting account that is made on our cloud platform as we employ the advanced ZFS file system. The aforementioned is the only one which was designed to avert silent data corruption through a unique checksum for each and every file. We will store your information on a number of NVMe drives that work in a RAID, so the very same files will be present on several places concurrently. ZFS checks the digital fingerprint of all the files on all the drives in real time and in the event that the checksum of any file is different from what it should be, the file system replaces that file with a healthy version from some other drive within the RAID. There's no other file system that uses checksums, so it is easy for data to be silently damaged and the bad file to be duplicated on all drives with time, but since that can never happen on a server running ZFS, you won't have to worry about the integrity of your information.
No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Servers
We've avoided any possibility of files getting damaged silently due to the fact that the servers where your semi-dedicated server account will be created take advantage of a powerful file system known as ZFS. Its advantage over alternative file systems is that it uses a unique checksum for every single file - a digital fingerprint that's checked in real time. Since we save all content on multiple NVMe drives, ZFS checks if the fingerprint of a file on one drive corresponds to the one on the remaining drives and the one it has stored. In the event that there's a mismatch, the corrupted copy is replaced with a healthy one from one of the other drives and since this happens instantly, there's no chance that a damaged copy can remain on our servers or that it could be duplicated to the other hard disks in the RAID. None of the other file systems work with this type of checks and what is more, even during a file system check right after an unexpected blackout, none of them will detect silently corrupted files. In comparison, ZFS doesn't crash after an electrical power failure and the continual checksum monitoring makes a lenghty file system check unnecessary.
